It's sad new as Terry Pratchett has passed away today. He is one of the most inspirational authors of this age especially through the way that he showed us all that the debilitating disease Alzheimer's that he has been suffering with for so long doesn't have to to stop you doing what you love. It never held him back from his writing even though it must have been extremely difficult to carry on. This shows us what an amazing man he was, he did so much to make people aware of the disease and his charity and generousness will help generations to come. I havn't personally read any of Sir Terry's books but have always been intending to read Discworld and The Long Earth (which incredibly he wrote five years after his diagnosis; and incredible feat in itself!) However he is one of those authors that you love and admire before you even get to read anything they write - exactly like what I felt for Jane Austen before I had read anything of hers - Placing Sir Terry with the greats in my mind. Even my brother who rarely reads knows who he is and that in my eyes is an incredible accomplisment! Not only is he a talented writer who sold his first story at the young age of 13, he has won many awards and has even been knighted by the Queen.

My wishes are with his family in this sad time, he is one of the greatest authors of all time and He will forever be remembered.
