Goodreads Description:
There are only eight breeding female werecats left . . .
And I'm one of them.

I look like an all-American grad student. But I am a werecat, a shape-shifter, and I live in two worlds.
Despite reservations from my family and my Pride, I escaped the pressure to continue my species and carved out a normal life for myself. Until the night a Stray attacked.
I'd been warned about Strays -- werecats without a Pride, constantly on the lookout for someone like me: attractive, female, and fertile. I fought him off, but then learned two of my fellow tabbies had disappeared.
This brush with danger was all my Pride needed to summon me back . . . for my own protection. Yeah, right. But I'm no meek kitty. I'll take on whatever -- and whoever -- I have to in order to find my friends. Watch out, Strays -- 'cause I got claws, and I'm not afraid to use them . . .

My Review:
At first i was not a big fan of this book. The first thing that annoyed me was Faythe's Immaturity, she seemed to act a lot younger than her age and she had a tendency to act very childish around her ex, Marc as well as her family. The second thing that made me instantly dislike this novel was the lack of character description and world building at the beginning. However, This novel began to pick up and in the end I enjoyed it. Faythe grew on me as she matured and finally lived up to her responsibility in leading the pride. The style of writing also improved along with the plot which became exciting and tense. I also very much enjoyed the rekindling of Faythe and Marc's relationship however i felt a little bit sorry for poor Jace who never stood a chance. The Middle - End of the book with the Kidnapping, Escape and Fight were for me very exciting and Faythe's perspective described some hard to deal with harsh scenes in a way that kept you interested and not so repulsed that you want to stop reading. Faythe turned out to be a Kick-ass heroine with a very strong will and Marc turned out to be a strong and completely devoted love interest. At first i would have given this book only about 2 stars, however it completely redeemed itself.

Quotes:

“Apparently the complete works of Shakespeare packed quite a wallop. To think, my mother said I'd never find use for an English degree. Ha! I'd like to see her knock someone silly with an apron and a cookie press.”
“A cat’s body can sustain a lot of damage without actually dying,” Lucas said, his voice as deep as the rumble of the earth itself. “You just think about that before you so much as scratch yourself without permission.” Ryan gulped and nodded, still mute.”

* * * And a Half

Goodreads Description:
Nine of us came here. We look like you. We talk like you. We live among you. But we are not you. We can do things you dream of doing. We have powers you dream of having. We are stronger and faster than anything you have ever seen. We are the superheroes you worship in movies and comic books - but we are real.

Our plan was to grow, and train, and become strong, and become one, and fight them. But they found us and started hunting us first. Now all of us are running. Spending our lives in shadows, in places where no one would look, blending in. We have lived among you without you knowing.

But they know.

They caught Number One in Malaysia.
Number Two in England.
And Number Three in Kenya.
They killed them all.

I am Number Four.

I am next.

My Review:
I was not over keen on the writing style of this book, it was a quite vague and there was little in the way of description. It was also slow to start and dragged on a little and the writing style made the action scenes a little hard to picture.
However the plot was brilliant, I really enjoyed it and the characters were very likeable. I can't wait to hear more about the different legacies and I loved, loved, loved Bernie Kosar he was adorable!
I really liked Henri too and his death was devastating!
John could annoy me at points however, especially when he selfishly put everything, and the fate of his whole planet on hold for a girl, but i did understand his need for a little normalcy in his life.
I liked Six, she was feisty and smart and to be honest I would have liked to have see more of her; but, lucky for me the next book is called 'The power of six' so hopefully we shall see more of her in the sequel!

Quotes:
“When you have lost hope, you have lost everything. And when you think all is lost, when all is dire and bleak, there is always hope.”
“I am an alien, I have extraordinary powers, with more to come, and I can do things that no human would dream of, but I still look like a fool.”
Rating:
****
