Description:
Lacy Dawn is a true daughter of Appalachia, and then some. She lives in a hollow with her worn-out mom, her Iraq War disabled dad, and her mutt Brownie, a dog who's very skilled at laying fiber optic cable. Lacy Dawn's android boyfriend, DotCom, has come to the hollow with a mission. His equipment includes infomercial videos of Earth's earliest proto-humans from millennia ago. DotCom has been sent by the Manager of the Mall on planet Shptiludrp: he must recruit Lacy Dawn to save the Universe in exchange for the designation of Earth as a planet which is eligible for continued existence within a universal economic structure that exploits underdeveloped planets for their mineral content. Lacy Dawn’s magic enables her to save the universe, Earth, and, most importantly, her own family.

My Review:
I didn't manage to finish this book. Mostly because I found it a little too disturbing for my tastes. I am a 19 year old who still enjoys Disney and can't watch a horror film because they are terrifying after all. But for fans of horror movies and Stephen King this book is perfect. It is psychologically disturbing at a different level to what I have seen before and this made it hard for me to read, especially the scene describing her friends death. The writing style is very good, you can actually imagine it is written by a child right from her thoughts as she struggles through her life of abuse. But the book just wasn't right for me, I would urge you to make your own opinions up about the book and if you are not easily scared or disturbed like I am, then I would urge you to give it a go for yourselves; It does have fantastic reviews from people who have read all of the book so I would urge you to goodreads to read the other reviews to help make your judgement on this book. I have heard from the author that the book becomes increasingly funny after the first few hard to read chapters so if you can get through the disturbing parts then make sure you give this book a go! Another thing to keep in mind is that this tale may be so disturbing to some as it is actually based on real problems children have shared with the author in group sessions over his years as a psychiatrist. The author gives all of his proceeds from the book to charity too so it is definatly worth reading if you are not faint of heart like me as I said earlier after the first three chapters it changes from Stephen King to more like Hitchhiker's guide to the Galaxy.

'Parent's Guide' to the Novel:

Piers Anthony found that my novel was “…not for the prudish.” Kevin Patrick Mahoney, editor of the once noteworthy site, Authortrek, found that it was, “…not for the faint hearted or easily offended….”   An early voice in the 1st chapter speaks about things that no child should know. It is that of a traumatized child – a voice most of us never listen to, or want to hear, but in real life is screaming. This passage is mild in comparison to some of the stuff that kids have said during actual group therapy sessions that I facilitated over the years. By child developmental stage, it is similar to the infamous early adolescent insult in E.T: “penis breath.” It is tame in comparison to the content of the popular T.V. series, South Park, which was devoured by millions of teens.

Except for a scene involving domestic violence in the 3rd chapter, this early dialogue is the only mildly graphic content. There are no graphic sex scenes in the novel. The renewed romance between the protagonist’s parents does include sexual reference. The android coming of age during his pursuit of humanity is reality based. However, Lacy Dawn never lets the android get farther than to kiss her on the cheek. The android expresses no interest in sex – he falls in love, all consuming love by the middle of the story. The “F word” is used once, but there is no other profanity.

Rarity from the Hollow is A Children’s Story for Adults.

Rating:
It would be unfair to rate this book as I didn't finish it because it just wasn't my type of book, not because it was a bad book. I'll leave it to you to decide if the book is for you or not follow this link to give it a try:

My Review:
This series is so compelling. Not only are the covers extremely beautiful and stunning but the content inside is just as fantastic. Set in a dystopian America we see a perfectly crafted world with incredible detail. The world is very different from our own yet you slip into it with ease and the more you read the more it seems normal and is very easy to understand. The characters are well developed and relatable, America is a great lead as she isn't afraid to be different, not always being perfect and making mistakes. Maxon is dreamy and I was totally in love with him from the very begining and wished him and America's happy ending throughout the whole sereis. I was never really ever on team Aspen but his loyalty to America was admirable, I do hate love triangles though and was Team Maxon though every book. I'm glad Aspen found his happy ever after in the end though as he was always a kind, loyal and deep character and I would hate to see him hurting. Some of the deaths in this series were heartbreaking and the twists were so sudden and relentless that they had me screaming and crying along with our characters. *SPOILER* Along with the revolation that Maxon's dad abuses him; the massacure and America's father's deaths in 'The One' hit me hardest. I actually shed a tear (rare for me!!) when America was reading her father's letter after he passed; It was just so heartbreaking!
This series is fast paced, romantic, and thought provoking. It is a quick read due to the fact that you can't put it down once you pick it up. Once I read 'The Selection' (In one day I may add...) I baught 'The Elite' there and then and read that too. But By the next day when I had finished that book too I couldn't buy 'The One' as it hadn't been released yet. However now I have finally baught and read 'The One' I automatically baught the novellas and sequel 'The Heir' straight away!
'The Heir' looks so good as it's set in Maxon and America's future surrounding their child and the childs selection process!
Here is the goodreads description for 'The Heir':
Twenty years ago, America Singer entered the Selection and won Prince Maxon’s heart. Now the time has come for Princess Eadlyn to hold a Selection of her own. Eadlyn doesn’t expect her Selection to be anything like her parents’ fairy-tale love story. But as the competition begins, she may discover that finding her own happily ever after isn’t as impossible as she always thought
And It's Cover
22918050
Which is just as stunning and the rest of the series; makes me a little sad that I baught the series on Kindle to be honest as they are some of the best book covers I have ever seen!

Quotes:
“No, I’m not choosing him or you. I’m choosing me.” -The Selection
“- Just that. Your family must be very different from mine.
- I’d say so. - I laughed. - For one, no one wears their tiaras to breakfast.
- Maxon smiled. - More of a dinner thing at the Singer house?”
- “Of course.” -The Selection
“It wasn’t like I made his world better. It was like I was his world. It wasn’t some explosion; it wasn’t fireworks. It was a fire, burning slowly from the inside out.” -The Elite
“I sighed. "Actually, Mom, we argue pretty regularly."
"What?" She gaped at me. "Well, stop it!"
"Oh, and I kneed him in the groin once."
There was a split second of silence before May barked a laugh. She covered her mouth and tried to stop it, but it kept coming out in awkward, squeaky sounds. Dad's lips were pressed together, but I could tell he was on the verge of losing it himself.
Mom was paler then snow.
"America, tell me you're joking. Tell me you didn't assault the prince."
I don't know why, but the word assault pushed us all on the edge; and May, Dad, and I bent over laughing as Mom stared at us.
"Sorry, Mom," I managed.
"Oh, good lord." She suddenly seemed very excited in meeting Marlee's parents, and I didn't stop her from going.” -The Elite
“America, my love, you are sunlight falling through trees. You are laughter that breaks through sadness. You are the breeze on a too-war day. You are clarity in the midst of confusion.
You are not the world, but you are everything that makes the world good. Without you, my life would still exist, but that's all it would manage to do.
You said that to get things right one of us would have to take a leap of faith. I think I've discovered the canyon that must be leaped, and I hope to find you waiting for me on the other side.
I love you, America.
Yours forever,

Maxon” - The One

Goodreads Description:
Though the Greek and Roman crew members of the Argo II have made progress in their many quests, they still seem no closer to defeating the earth mother, Gaea. Her giants have risen—all of them—and they're stronger than ever. They must be stopped before the Feast of Spes, when Gaea plans to have two demigods sacrificed in Athens. She needs their blood—the blood of Olympus—in order to wake.

The demigods are having more frequent visions of a terrible battle at Camp Half-Blood. The Roman legion from Camp Jupiter, led by Octavian, is almost within striking distance. Though it is tempting to take the Athena Parthenos to Athens to use as a secret weapon, the friends know that the huge statue belongs back on Long Island, where it "might" be able to stop a war between the two camps.

The Athena Parthenos will go west; the Argo II will go east. The gods, still suffering from multiple personality disorder, are useless. How can a handful of young demigods hope to persevere against Gaea's army of powerful giants? As dangerous as it is to head to Athens, they have no other option. They have sacrificed too much already. And if Gaea wakes, it is game over.

My Review:
Rick Riordan is by far my most favourite author. I own all of his YA books minus a couple of the graphic novels and I will continue to buy all of his books for as long as he keeps writing them. He is a sassy and witty author who is not afraid to put his characters in difficult situations that are both heart-wrenching and exciting at the same time. He is one of those authors you can love with all your heart but hate at the same time for the evil cliffhangers and heart pounding scenes.
The Blood Of Olympus was not an exception to these traits i have written above. It was stock full of drama, excitement and scenes that made me cry - from both sadness and laughter. Some scenes I was laughing so much that I think my family probably assumed I was just crazy.
I am going to spilt this review into parts; first I am going to comment on each of the main characters. The first image is the official artwork released for the books and the second image is the fan art I think looks most like my idea of the character.
Percy Jackson
http://img2.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20101204120430/olympians/images/8/83/Zzz.gifhttp://fc00.deviantart.net/fs70/f/2013/159/1/a/percy_jackson_by_aireenscolor-d5fuvqv.jpg
Percy Jackson has always been there from the beginning even though he did have a smaller role in this book so the other characters can stand out a little more but his sass and wit still managed to come through. I love his and Annabeth's ending when they get to stay together and live monster free at camp Jupiter. Percy is powerful and cute a great combination and he will always been one of my favourites. I love all the percybeth moments in this book especially when they both reach Athens and kiss to prove a point that children of Poseidon and Athena can be together. However Percy's reaction to Nico's confession of having a crush on him just killed me though, literally killed me I was laughing so hard! It had to be my favourite Percy moment of TBOO
Annabeth Chase
http://www.paperdroids.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/12/Annabeth-203x300.jpghttp://fc00.deviantart.net/fs71/i/2013/099/7/8/annabeth_chase_by_monsiearts-d610hfo.jpg
Annabeth has also always been there since the beginning so I love her for that. She grew so much as a character in this book especially when she was in Sparta fighting with Piper when she had to forgo knowledge for emotion. She is so wise, smart and clever; a great role model for girls all over the world. She did take a back seat a little in this novel again however to help the other characters stand out. I loved her ending but I was really really wishing for a percybeth wedding as I ship them both so much! The scene where Annabeth and Percy accidentally woke Gaia broke my heart but I was so glad when no one blamed them for what happened. I really love Annabeth's friendship with Piper and at the end Reyna it was very sweet!
Jason Grace
http://vignette3.wikia.nocookie.net/olympians/images/8/8b/JasonHOO.jpg/revision/latest?cb=20101019093350http://images6.fanpop.com/image/photos/36000000/The-Heroes-of-Olympus-image-the-heroes-of-olympus-36092368-500-625.png
Jason is a powerful character, I loved the scene when he first met his father in his greek form. He wasn't afraid to stand up to his father when he needed to either and that made me love him more. Jason did take a back seat in the novel letting characters like Nico, Leo and Piper to take charge but some of the action was written from his point of view still. The scene where he had to face his mother was so heartbreaking it nearly broke me right from the start!
Jason's ending was one of my favourites, he got the position of a priest and got to go between camps making sure all gods are worshipped and no one is left out - it is such a noble cause and he can then go between camps and see all of his friends still. And he is still with Piper and they can live happily ever after aww!
Piper McLean
http://static.comicvine.com/uploads/original/11117/111179559/4200768-piper_mclean.jpghttp://th09.deviantart.net/fs70/PRE/i/2013/101/6/9/piper_mclean_by_monsiearts-d6189vr.jpg
Piper has to be one of my favourites! She was an underrated character before but now as she came into her powers she became incredible! Her charmspeak was one of the best weapons used in the novel - maybe other than her horn of plenty. Piper was the source of most of my laughs in the battle scenes, some of her fighting tactics were just hilarious and random and this made me love her! She became one of the best characters in this novel and one of the most powerful.
Hazel Levesque
http://vignette2.wikia.nocookie.net/olympians/images/b/b9/Hazel_official.jpg/revision/latest/scale-to-width/250?cb=20130403115209https://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/236x/0e/58/4d/0e584d5e3a3a0d7bbc95ca8aaf04621c.jpg
Hazel wasn't in this novel as much as she was in the others but it was her relationship with Nico that stood out so much. I love Nico and it's lovely seeing that he has some family again. Hazel was Incredible when she grew into her powers however, her control of the Mist helped with the quest more than she realised.
Frank Zhang
http://vignette2.wikia.nocookie.net/olympians/images/1/11/Frank_Zhang.jpg/revision/latest?cb=20130403114643http://fc08.deviantart.net/fs70/i/2013/102/5/0/frank_zhang_by_monsiearts-d61idsh.jpg
Frank also took more of a backseat but his ability to turn into an animal was used in the most hilarious ways. All I can now think of when his name is mentioned is him as a Rhino knocking 20 foot Giants over! Haha! I was glad him and Hazel had a happy ending going back to Camp Jupiter to live their lives out, leading the Roman legions together.
Leo Valdez
http://vignette4.wikia.nocookie.net/olympians/images/6/60/LeoHOO.jpg/revision/latest?cb=20101023090729http://fc03.deviantart.net/fs70/f/2012/192/d/d/leo_valdez_and_festus_by_spidiman-d56ts31.jpg
Leo has always been my favourite character in HoO his Witt and bravery made me fall in love with him. He was one of the main characters in this book and his plans were near enough worthy of Athena and his bravery worthy of a Hero. His sacrifice had me crying my eyes out, I honestly believed he had died in his quest to save everyone and this made me love him more. I was devastated seeing his friends all miss and cry for him and thinking of Calypso left alone on the island waiting for Leo to return. However I was screaming for joy when Leo's name appeared above the next chapter and it had turned out that Festus had saved him!! I was even happier when it turned out that he rescued Calypso and was going to return to his friends - I would have loved to have been able to read a chapter about his return. He is so brave and lovely and ahhhh *dies*
Coach Hedge
http://images5.fanpop.com/image/photos/31800000/Coach-Gleeson-Hedge-the-heroes-of-olympus-31856859-1071-1600.jpg
Coach hedge is there for amusement mostly - especially when Buford the Table was set to imitate him. I found it so sweet that he had to race home for his wife though to get home in time to see his son being born awww. And just the thought of Clarisse as a birthing partner/godmother just left me laughing.
Nico Di Angelo
http://vignette4.wikia.nocookie.net/olympians/images/e/e7/Nico_di_Angelo.jpg/revision/latest?cb=20140315004259http://fc05.deviantart.net/fs70/f/2013/175/e/9/nico_di_angelo_by_aireenscolor-d5gyje1.jpg
First off I hate the official art work of Nico, wrong hair colour, wrong eye colour and that expression *shudders*. I love Nico, he is so full of pain and anger but deals with it so well, he is strong and courageous and always knows when to get involved or when to stay away. It was his growth of characters that I noticed most in this novel. He discovered more he could do with his powers and he overcame the feelings he had for Percy. His confrontation with Percy regarding his feelings was hilarious and I am really shipping him and Will - I would love a novella surrounding them both! I have always liked Nico and always will, like all of Riordan's characters he is very well developed and my heart ached along with his for the majority of his chapters. When Nico decided to stay at camp half blood it really warmed my heart - seeing he was wanted and loved and seeing him more open to having friends; even letting people hug him just made me melt!
Reyna Avila Ramirez-Arellano
http://img3.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20110830175432/olympians/images/b/b5/Reyna_full_body.jpghttp://th04.deviantart.net/fs70/PRE/i/2014/206/4/4/reyna_avila_ramirez_arellano_by_xdiablerie-d7r6o3k.png
Reyna surprised me in TBOO, She never used to be my favourite but in this book I begun to like her a lot. She is strong, very, very strong and courageous. I loved reading about her history and relationship with her sister and her friendship with Nico made me like her even more! When she fought Orion towards the end is when my feelings for her solidified even more however. I would love to read a Novella centred around her as I am really intrigued to find out who she will fall in love with as she was told it would never be a demi-god, that would make a great read.

The enemies in this book were formidable, I had no idea how any of the heroes were going to pull through - I mean how do you destroy the earth, dozens of 20 foot tall Giants, hundreds of earthborn and legions of monsters at the same time as uniting warring camps, overthrowing a crazy roman, carrying a statue half way across the world and all without the help of the gods who were too busy fighting themselves.....Hmm.... This book is nothing but full of drama!
The massacre of the Amazonians and Hunters of Artemis killed me slightly though, I was so sad as I always appreciate a strong, independent woman in my books! However this book had enough humour to counter the dire and desperately sad plot lines therefore being very well balanced and making it an incredible read. I couldn't have loved the ending of this series more - i was hoping beyond hope that the camps never merged and stayed separate; my wish came true with the bonus of regular holidays between camps which I loved as it meant all the main characters in the book could continue to see each other and continue to be friends. I also appreciated the idea that everyone could chose what camp they live in and swap camps at any time to get the best of both worlds. This series has always been incredible, and will be one i re-read time and time again. This is a Goodbye to both the old Percy Jackson series and a Goodbye to heroes of Olympus I will truly miss it - but at least there are the crossover novels and mythology guides from Percy's point of view to still look forward to! But it is still very sad to see it end, I grew up on these books...
Goodbye - I will miss you - you will forever be in my heart!

Quotes:

Buford The Table “The intercom crackled. Buford’s Mini-Hedge yelled over the speakers, “PUT SOME CLOTHES ON!”
Coach Hedge “I have orders to bring Reyna in alive to stand trial for treason. I have no orders to bring you in alive, or the faun.” “Satyr!” the coach yelled. He kicked a skeleton in its bony crotch, which seemed to hurt Hedge more than the redcoat. “Ow! Stupid British dead guys!”
Nico “For a long time,’ Nico said, ‘I had a crush on you. I just wanted you to know.’ Percy looked at Nico. Then at Annabeth, as if to check that he’d heard correctly. Then back at Nico.
‘You –’
‘Yeah,’ Nico said. ‘You’re a great person. But I’m over that. I’m happy for you guys.’
‘You … so you mean –’
‘Right.’
Annabeth’s grey eyes started to sparkle. She gave Nico a sideways smile.
‘Wait,’ Percy said. ‘So you mean –’
‘Right,’ Nico said again. ‘But it’s cool. We’re cool. I mean, I see now … you’re cute, but you’re not my type.’
‘I’m not your type … Wait. So –’
‘See you around, Percy,’ Nico said.”
Reyna “This is for Pheobe,' she snarled in his ear ' for Kinzie. For all those you killed. you will die at the hands of a girl.' Orion thrashed and fought, but Reyna's will was unshakable. The power of Athena infused her cloak. Bellona blessed her with strength and resolve. Not one but two powerful goddesses aided her"
Frank "Frank run out of arrows. He changed into a rhinoceros and leaped into battle, but as fast as he could knock down the giants they got up again"
Hazel “Oh, no!" Hazel wailed. "Popcorn! Our fatal weakness!”
Jason “We were surrounded by thirty-foot-tall giants who were about to kill us. Then the sky opened up, and the gods descended."
"Grandad," the kids said, "you are full of schist."
"I'm not kidding!" he protested.”
Piper “And why shouldn't Piper intimidate them? Aphrodite was the most ancient Olympian, born of the sea and the blood of Ouranos. She was older than Poseidon or Athena or even Zeus. And Piper was her daughter.”
Percy “So this is where the rivalry started," Percy said.
"Yeah."
Percy pulled Annabeth close and kissed her....
When Percy pulled away, Annabeth looked like a fish gasping for air.
"The rivalry ends here," Percy said. "I love you, Wise Girl.”
Annabeth "Annabeth, I never ignore your advice.' Piper kept her voice soothing. 'But this time I have to. We can't defeat this place with reason. You can't think your way out of your emotions."
Leo “Leo smiled nervously. Maybe he and Percy did share something else – a stupid sense of humour. ‘Yeah, I bet that would totally be against her sponsorship deal. THOSE ARE NOT THE OFFICIAL SHOES OF THE OLYMPICS! YOU WILL DIE NOW!’

About Leo "Hazel rolled her eyes. ‘You’re both impossible.’
“Commander Tool Belt" Jason said.
"Bad Boy Supreme" Piper said.
"Chef Leo the Tofu Taco Expert."
They laughed and told stories about Leo valdez, their best friend. They stayed on the roof until dawn rose, and Piper started to believe they could have a fresh start. It might even be possible to tell a new story in which Leo was still out there.
Somewhere...”
About Gaia “That is correct," Zeus said. "The blood of Olympus was spilled. She is fully conscious."
"Oh, come on!" Percy complained. "I get a little nosebleed and I wake up the entire earth? That's not fair!”

Goodreads Description:
Wow. This is it. This is me growing up. On my own, going to Performing Arts College. This is good-bye, Tallulah, you long, gangly thing, and helloooooo, Lullah, star of stage.

Tallulah Casey is ready to find her inner artist. And some new mates. And maybe a boy or two or three. She's bound for a performing arts program in the wilds of the Yorkshire Dales--eerily similar to the windswept moors of "Wuthering Heights."

Acting? Tights? Moors? Check, check, check.

Louise Rennison returns with her trademark wit, a hilarious new cast, and a heroine who is poised to discover plenty of opportunities for (mis)adventure.

Review:
As always Rennison has delivered us a book of pure comedy. I love the way that Tullulah is related to a popular character in Rennison's old series therefore explaining some of her unusual madness. This book is a quick and easy read but so underrated in being one of the funniest series I have read! Tullulah is completely mad and quirky making for a brilliant protagonist. I am completely on team Cane with this one (Alex is too unappreciative to Tullulah), only marking this book down one star for the lack of romance scenes involving him! We all love a good forbidden romance! The 'Save the school' plot was very interesting and as allways Tullulah's problem with spontanious Irish dancing had me in stiches! A book of pure comedy genius, If you need a laugh look no further.

Quotes:
“Mr. Darcy was in Pride and Prejudice and at first he was all snooty and huffy; then he fell in a lake and came out with his shirt all wet. And then we all loved him. In a swoony way.”
“Heathcliff. The "hero" of Wuthering Heights. Although no one knows why.
He's mean, moody, and possibly a bit on the pongy side. Cathy loves him, though. She shows this by viciously rejecting him and marrying someone else for a laugh. Still, that is true love on the moors for you.”
“I am not an ice cream come! I am a human being!”

Author Biography:
Salted is Aaron Galvin's debut novel. He first cut his chops writing original stand-up comedy routines at age thirteen. His early works paid off years later when he co-wrote and executive produced the 2013 award-winning indie feature film, Wedding Bells & Shotgun Shells.
He is also an accomplished actor. Aaron has worked in Hollywood blockbusters, (Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight, and Clint Eastwood’s Flags of Our Fathers), and starred in dozens of indie films.
Aaron is a proud member of SCBWI. He lives in Southern California with his wife and daughter.
Praise for the Book:
It's always hard to find a unique novel on mermaids. I've seen a spin or two from time to time, but nothing really original, and certainly nothing I'd really describe as 'cool'. That was until I got the chance to read Salted.
- Steampunk Sparrow Book Blog
I totally bought into the Salted world Galvin created. Not an easy read but a unique one, I would recommend Salted by Aaron Galvin for people who are looking for something beyond the typical mermaid and selkie tales.
Salted was an intriguing read that kept me hooked. It is a different spin on the underwater world and creatures, which I found brought quite a bit of originality to the genre.
Salted is sure to grab your interest at the onset.

Goodreads Description:
Life isn't better under the sea. Lenny Dolan is all too familiar with this reality. A Selkie slave in the realm beneath the waves, he has no choice when charged with leading a crew ashore to capture an elusive runaway. If unsuccessful, the loved ones kept behind will pay for his failure with their lives. But when their target leads Lenny and his crew to deeper, darker secrets, the Selkies are faced with a moral dilemma. Secure their own freedom at the expense of others, or return empty-handed to face the grisly consequences? How Lenny and his crew answer the question will teach them the harshest truth of all. Only through the loss of innocence does one become Salted.

My Review:
At first I admit I did find this book a little confusing. I loved the parts with Gareth Weaver in but Lenny's chapters had me a little lost. It took me a little while in order to understand the world order of the Salt and how the society is built up, but having Gareth's chapters helped me to piece it all together. Once I had pushed through my confusion I began to enjoy the book for what it was; a fast paced, Mer-book with little in the way of romance to distract you from the complex and interesting plot. This book was so different from anything I have ever read before, very unique in the way it covered many hard issues without having some chapters that were lighter to distract you from the pain the characters went through. This in my opinion was what won me over, It gave the book a unique depth and danger. I felt every hard decision with the characters and found it very easy to understand their motives, Chidi and Gareth being my clear favorite characters, Chidi for her struggle and amazing instincts and Gareth for the innocence baught to the book. I enjoyed this book, especially the scenes held in the zoo such as the dolphin show and the shark tank incident. By the end I began to respect the complexity of the salted society more with the slave/master predicaments and the unique way of communicating through earrings. This book is defiantly worth reading if you want to read a Mer-book that isn't just centered on soppy love stories and more about one of the biggest moral struggles I have ever read. I would say to any future reader to make sure you stick with it through the confusing beginning and wait until the society becomes clear and the book becomes spectacular! It's a refreshing change to the norm of the YA genre!

Quotes:
"Alone for once, Lenny closed his eyes and tilted his head back, letting the rain drizzle on his face to wash away his guilt. He stayed that way for a long while, refusing to open them until he heard footsteps running back across the street."
"The old woman sat on the edge not twenty feet from him, her dolphin tail lazily swinging in the water."

Goodreads Description:
Clary Fray just wishes that her life would go back to normal. But what's normal when you're a demon-slaying Shadowhunter, your mother is in a magically induced coma, and you can suddenly see Downworlders like werewolves, vampires, and faeries? If Clary left the world of the Shadowhunters behind, it would mean more time with her best friend, Simon, who's becoming more than a friend. But the Shadowhunting world isn't ready to let her go — especially her handsome, infuriating, newfound brother, Jace. And Clary's only chance to help her mother is to track down rogue Shadowhunter Valentine, who is probably insane, certainly evil — and also her father.

To complicate matters, someone in New York City is murdering Downworlder children. Is Valentine behind the killings — and if he is, what is he trying to do? When the second of the Mortal Instruments, the Soul-Sword, is stolen, the terrifying Inquisitor arrives to investigate and zooms right in on Jace. How can Clary stop Valentine if Jace is willing to betray everything he believes in to help their father?

In this breathtaking sequel to City of Bones, Cassandra Clare lures her readers back into the dark grip of New York City's Downworld, where love is never safe and power becomes the deadliest temptation.

My Review:
This Book was stunning! It was intense, romantic, funny and heart wrenching all in one! I love the shadowhunting world they live in and the twists and turns this book took were exceptional! I was shocked at the way Cassandra Clare nearly killed poor Simon off about 3 times in this novel though! so i am glad he survived; after turning vampire, being drained and nearly being turned to ashes i assume he must be feeling a little strange though! I enjoyed the development of Clary and Jace's extraordinary powers and the turn the relationship took was something i would never expect from a YA novel. It was heart wrenching and a tough subject to touch on, Clare really knows how to write a novel! I really can't wait to start the next book, City of Ashes ended with many unanswered questions and i really want to find what the answers are so I am going to read City Of Glass straight away!

Quotes:
“Mom. I have something to tell you. I’m undead. Now, I know you may have some preconceived notions about the undead. I know you may not be comfortable with the idea of me being undead. But I’m here to tell you that undead are just like you and me … well, okay. Possibly more like me than you.”(Simon to Clary)
“Alec looked at her and shook his head. "How do you manage never to get mud on your clothes?"
Isabelle shrugged philosophically. "I'm pure at heart. It repels the dirt.” (Alec and Isabelle)
“Jace slammed his hand down on the stele. “Clary-“
“She said she doesn’t want it,” said Simon. “Ha-ha.”
“Ha-ha?” Jace looked incredulous. “That’s your comeback?”(Jace, Simon and Clary)
“Valentine!"
"You mean father. I despise this modern habit of calling one's parents by their names."
"What I want to call you is a hell of a lot more unprintable than your name." (Valentine and Clary)
